Editorial Positions
Staff Editors: A Staff Editor will participate in the review through the editing, development, and production of student-authored scholarship. In this position, each Editor will be primarily trained on how to utilize Bluebook format when editing.
ALL ACCEPTED APPLICANTS WILL ENTER AS A STAFF EDITOR. AFTER ONBOARDING, THEY WILL BE APPOINTED TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS.
Lead Editor: A The Lead Editor will be assigned 2-3 notes and will oversee their production timeline. The Lead Editor will communicate extensively with their assigned Notes and Text Editors and designate different pieces of work to each editor. The Lead Editor is tasked with ensuring the language of the original authors are preserved, while consistent with the general tone of the journal. The Lead Editor would report to the Senior Editor and Editor-in-Chief.
Notes Editor: The Notes Editor is primarily tasked with preserving the vision of the original author of their assigned note/article. The Notes Editor will be enhancing their note through substantive revisions and reviewing the legal reasoning, use of sources and overall coherence of their note.
Text Editor: The Text Editor is primarily tasked with grammatical and stylistic revisions. Each Text Editor will go line-by-line for grammar, clarity, tone, and flow, ensuring compliance with Bluebook citation and formatting standards. Text Editors will flag substantive concerns as they come, serving as the final revision before note approval from the Editor-in-Chief.
Layout Editor: The Layout Editors will work with each other to design the visual format and layout for the journal itself. The Layout Editors will also be tasked with creating the website, finding printers for the journal and marketing the journal to the school and political scholars.
